Gravel on an uneven surface

Hi

My driveway is concreted but the use of a powerhose and heavy traffic has broken the concrete up and the surface is also quite uneven (actually sunk in places.) Is it possible to lay gravel on it without having to dig up the drive and level it?

Hi everyone,

I am currently landscaping my back garden and would really like to install some kind of water feature. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as I am struggling to find inspiration - I wanted something a bit different to the typical install and flick a switch water fountain; something a bit more natural looking I guess.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate some hints and suggestions.

Organic Manure bulk bags???

About 3 weeks ago we phoned yourselves to order a 2 cubic metre bulk bag of Organic Manure. we were told that you do not do 2 cubic metre bags because they are too heavy and that the biggest bag is now 1 1/2 cubic metre which we ordered. Within days of our order you now have 2 cubic metre bags back on your website at a massive cost increase (was �102.00 but now �166.00 !)

I am over seeding about 300 sq metres of lawn and I need to know which topsoil is best and what the difference is between the organic and lawn topsoil.

How deep would you suggest I need to apply ...5mm?.It is in effect as a covering for the seed.

Is it fine and dry enough to be spread via a broadcast spreader?

hi

i am planning to raise a major section of my back garden about 30 feet across and 10 feet front to back and need to raise it by about 2 feet. reasons are for decor and due to surrounding gardens / land being higher than my own garden causing exessive wetness particulalrly outside the summer months were it is almost unusable. can some one advise me on the best materials to utilise and any hints to help, i do intend to turf this section with borders around the edges for planting.

Hello all...

I have just built myself some new raised beds and obviously need to fill them with some kind of soil.

What is the best type of soil to go for and what pH level for different types of plants?

I will be doing a vegetable plot, a flowering border and one with shrubs.

Any advice would be great.

Hi all,

I have just taken up my old tatty lawn and was wondering if anyone could advise what I should do now?

There is already some okay soil there but should I be putting some better quality topsoil down first or doing any kind of weed treating or fertilising before I get my new turf and put it down?

My lawn is very uneven & needs building up to the level of a path, in some places this will be a much as 6", what is the best way. Should I dig up the existing lawn, level with top soil & lay new turf or can I cut the lawn very short then level over the top & lay new turf.

My house has been for sale for ages and after watching location location on channel 4 they suggested to make sure the garden was stunning as it's the first thing people see when they come to look at your house.

So i thought i'd get rid of my old tatty lawn and replace it with some nice new turf. But i don't know how to do it!! Can someone please tell me how to lay turff myself?

i was just wondering if anybody would be able to give me some feedback on the new rubber chippings that you can get for use on play areas and borders?

i have seen a lot of stuff promised abt them and they sound great but is it one of those too good to be true things?

Hi everyone,

I really want to start growing my own vegetables as the supermarket produce is getting worse by the day - the labels are totally incomprehendable nowadays...!

Can anyone give me a push in the right direction? I want to get rid of all of the nasty clay soil that is in my vegetable plots and greenhouse at the moment and swap it for some really nice stuff but I don't really know what is the best thing to go for if I'm starting from scratch.
